The new librarianship is here. Book cataloguing roles are morphing into repository metadata expertise, discovery layers and search engine optimisation. We have moved from buying our content through subscriptions to publishing open access content ourselves. Traditional curation skills are now applied to research data management. New librarianship skills have once again made academic librarians indispensable to their users. But will it last? We have spent a lot of time preparing for what we see as the new librarianship, but are we ready for the next librarianship? Are we ready to face the next 10 years? This chapter looks at how academic librarians' skills can be applied to areas outside libraries, where they are much in demand. These include corporate information management, knowledge management, intranets, search engine optimisation, business analysis, enterprise architecture, information policy, and learning space management.
