One of the main inputs required for any landfill gas generation model is the waste composition data. Waste composition data for municipal solid waste is collected in terms of food, green waste, paper, textiles, inert etc. For this data to be of use for a landfill model, it must be converted into the input values that the particular model requires. This paper examines various methods for the conversion of the waste fractions into model inputs for component models and recommends that a combined approach would help improve the accuracy of this conversion. This paper is only considering the input data and parameters for the degradation component of landfill models.
