Staff satisfaction with information resources in a university of technology

Information Resources are gaining in significance and importance in the university of 21st century, particularly given recent developments in information and communications technology (ICT). In this environment the higher education library needs to monitor the perceived importance, satisfaction and use of the services it provides. This study reports on a study of university staff satisfaction with information resources provision in an Australian university of technology. This survey suggests that the demand for traditional library services - such as book borrowing and reference services - remains strong, with both frequency of usage and perceived importance generally high. At the same time, online services, in terms of both perceived importance and frequency of use, are also at a high level, with indications of unmet demand in these emerging areas. The study suggests that the environment for Higher Education libraries will become more challenging, with continuing demand for traditional services and rapidly expanding expectations for online services.
