Australian student projects on sport result in a USA research connection

The paper discusses the advantages in using sporting problems for student OR/statistics projects. One particular project developed into a stall consulting contract tipping football, and ultimately resulted in collaboration with an American academic. Possible areas of study and other projects undertaken will be mentioned.
