New research shows that, in general, members of multiethnic societies are less likely to behave altruisticallly towards each other than are members of more ethically homogenous societies. But the question of how we should explain these findings remains open. Does the theory of ethnic nepotism provide an adquate explanation, or should we rather look to the cultural processes supporting feelings of national solidarity?
