Elegance: keeping it simple and testable
N. David Mermin, in his recent 'Physics Today' article (March, page 11), gave an interesting commentary on elegance in physics. I have to agree with his remarks---and perhaps we need to inquire further about why this strange concept has become so elevated in our discourse.
