The interaction between nylon 6 and recycled polyethylene terephthalate was investigated by extrusion blending followed by heating in a vacuum oven for various periods of time. The products were analysed by DSC and FTIR, and the results are discussed in terms of the in-situ formation of a compatibiliser between the two incompatible phases in the blend, by a condensation reaction between ester and amine groups.
