The light-induced backward scattering in doubly doped lithium niobate crystal was investigated and intensity threshold effect was observed. The scattering microregions were locally recorded in the sample by holographic interaction due to the existence of the threshold effect. A promising way to realize multilayer bit-data optical storage with a high signal-to-noise ratio was shown by the experimental results.
