Publicising OR projects in the media

Promoting the results of OR projects in the mass media raises the profile of OR within the community. The author has been successful in gaining widespread publicity for his research into sport. This publicity has promoted the OR and statistics profession as well as the author's department and institution to possible users and sponsors of the research, future students and the general public. Similar publicity is possible for many staff research or student projects, and studies conducted for industrial clients. This paper discusses examples and strategies that have been employed.
