'There is no universal capitalism, there is no capitalism-in-itself; capitalism is at the crossroads of all kinds of formations' (ATP, 20). We might say a similar thing about hypertext. That viewing it as a 'thing-in-itself' with a liberal-democratic ideology blinds us to the movement of parts, to the forces and elements which are directing this show.
