The Feshbach resonance between optically trapped fermionic atoms in two different internal states was reported. An ultracold gas of fermionic atoms was loaded into a far-off resonance optical dipole trap and the spin composition of the trapped gas was controlled. The elastic collision cross section in the gas was changed by nearly three orders of magnitude by using the resonance.
