Wireless broadband network policy in Korea

Two years after smart phones were introduced in Korea, the number of smart phone users (subscribers) has expanded to 20 million people, 40% of the population. Using smart phones, Koreans develop social relationships with the social network services and enjoy various entertainment services with abundant applications. Since the increasing popularity of smart phones changes society into a 'smart society,' the role of wireless broadband has taken on a greater importance. In this report, the status and market demand of the wireless broadband in Korea is reviewed, and the direction of Korea policy is discussed.
