The network theory of immunology proposes that antigen receptors themselves provide units for selection by antireceptor receptors. This work discusses the implication of receptor-receptor recognition in the context of a previously developed elaborated clonal selection algorithm (ECSA). The result is a pattern recognition-based system capable of cognitive tasks that surpass the simple ECSA, and which have strong implications for the previously outlined T-cell mediated algorithm, which is also based on the interaction of receptors although of different casts.
