CSI Swinburne staff worked in collaboration with Moonee Valley City Council representatives to survey participants of the Women, Careers and Leadership Program. The Women, Careers and Leadership (WCL) Program offered women from migrant and refugee backgrounds living in the Housing Estates opportunities to further develop and pursue their career goals through a range of workshops and programs, along with ongoing mentoring support. The responses to the survey are overwhelmingly positive which may suggest that people have been grateful for the opportunity to partake in the program and have enjoyed the opportunity it has given them to feel involved and a part of a community. These are outcomes that are important, and the data here has indicated that the program has provided participants with both knowledge and employment-related skills, increases in confidence and expanded networks of friendships. There is an ongoing need to ensure that the confidence and skills gained through the program are translated into employment and leadership opportunities.
