This report tests the link between access, individual cognitions and group beliefs and preferences to determine problem gambling vulnerability. The research uses a combination of focus groups, in depth interviews and a survey to explore what attracts people to gambling venues and how they control their gambling behaviour. The report was released in September 2010 by researchers at the Faculty of Life and Social Sciences at Swinburne University of Technology. It was funded through the Community Support Fund as part of the pilot round of the Submission Based Grants System for Gambling Research, a commitment under Taking Action on Problem Gambling: A Strategy for Combating Problem Gambling in Victoria.
