In a climate of declining resources within tertiary education it is not surprising that considerable attention has been devoted to increasing teaching efficiency. In such a climate it is very easy to permit the effectiveness of educational processes to decline. In this paper a variety of developments aimed at increasing the effectiveness of management education are described. All the developments undertaken were based on utilising an experiential learning approach. The development of a teaching facility (namely, the Swinburne Management Behaviour Laboratory) is described. Secondly, the use of an industry based simulation (namely, the Caravan Management Game) is described and finally factors which influence the effectiveness of the learning experience are highlighted. The types of development described in this paper offer considerable potential to enhance the effectiveness of management education.
