Three-dimensional printing (3DP) has become a disruptive manufacturing technology that benefits the manufacturing and educational sectors. Although developing countries face common barriers, such as qualified trainers, equipment, or lack of resources to integrate 3DP in higher education, no studies have systematically investigated the extent to which these barriers are prevalent and how they are overcome. Using a mixed methods approach, this thesis identifies the barriers and provides recommendations for educators and policymakers to better leverage 3DP technology in engineering education. Based on these findings, a framework is proposed to integrate sustainability through 3DP into the higher education.
