Flight instruments in an aircraft’s cockpit can be displayed in one of two types. The traditional cockpit displays the instruments by using dials and needles. The modern cockpit takes advantage of computerised screens to digitally display the instruments.
The performance of a pilot can also be affected based on the type of cockpit they fly in. This thesis compared the pilot performance between the two types of cockpit.
The results showed that pilots were able to adapt to the different type of cockpit. Such a technique ensured that their performance did not deteriorate in a new type of cockpit.
