This research investigates the philosophy of C. S. Peirce, and from a Peircian perspective looks at relationships of meaning in nature outside of human influence, and how deeper levels of understanding of those relationships can help shape the metaphors we live by. It is argued that there is a dissonance in contemporary human life and understanding that separates us unnecessarily from nature, and from ourselves. An alternative approach is proposed, whereby we can more closely align our own patterns of life with those of the nature from which we emerge as beings.
