This thesis presents a fundamental study on the propagation of finite-amplitude pressure waves in aerosols, which is commonly encountered in an extensive range of physical scenarios, from environmental study of atmospheric aerosols, to powder processing and aerospace engineering applications. This research involves developments of mathematical model, numerical method and parametric study to investigate the effects of various aerosol and wave parameters on the evolution and energy dissipation of the waveforms. The developed model contributes to current understanding of relevant physical phenomena and therefore provides new insights for researchers and engineers in their respective areas.
