A new approach to the generation of acoustic frequency combs (AFCs) using gas bubble oscillations—signals with spectra containing equidistant coherent peaks is proposed.  AFCs are essential for many sensing and measurement applications, where the established technology of optical frequency combs (OFCs) suffer from fundamental physical limitations.  The proposed model of the bubble-based AFC possesses essential characteristics of optical frequency combs and thus, similar to their optical counterparts, can be used to measure various physical, chemical and biological quantities.
