"Advancing the study of quality of life in bipolar disorder: A multimethod approach" by Emma Morton addresses a series of questions limiting progress in the understanding and application of this consumer valued treatment target. Four parallel studies clarify the conceptualisation and measurement of quality of life in bipolar disorder, the relationship between mood symptoms and quality of life, and consumer experiences of quality of life. A heuristic framework organising quality of life concepts is generated from the project, and a range of clinical applications are highlighted, with potential to improve the quality of life of individuals with bipolar disorder.
