Amplifying the Voices of Historically Underrepresented Australian Women through Podcasting

thesis
posted on 2024-10-11, 06:37 authored by Corey Martin

This practice-led project examines the podcast’s capacity to amplify the voices of historically underrepresented Australian women. It comprises a podcast artefact called 'Maiden Australia' and the accompanying exegesis. The podcast, Maiden Australia, is a three-part anthology series that captures the stories of women who have been hidden in Australia's mainstream history, as detailed through the perspectives of various women interviewees. The exegesis examines each stage of the process of creating this podcast, illustrating how feminist methodological frameworks in conjunction with the practice of podcasting allowed for an innovative recalibration of historical narratives that raises multiple and varied women’s voices.
