Personal and professional development and maximising organisational returns from training investment continues to be a significant issue for managers globally. The objectives of this study were to explore overarching learning transfer barriers as moderating factors influencing learning transfer and identify a simplified methodology and process for investigating learning transfer issues within organisations. Research findings highlighted ninety percent of employees interviewed experienced low learning support and accountability for their learning transfer both from their organisation and their manager. Further results reported a lack of organisational processes for learning which gave rise to poor learning transfer rates and that this study's adapted activity system analytical framework was an appropriate method for exploring factors that influenced learning transfer within organisations.
