The main contribution of this research is to build up new relationships between the fused deposition modeling process parameters and various quality characteristics. Within this study, several novel analytical, statistical and optimization approaches are proposed to evaluate and optimize the fused deposition modeling process conditions. This research project also introduces for the first time the use of computer-generated optimal design and definitive screening design in additive manufacturing problem-solving. The outcomes of this research offer scientific and technical knowledge with the potential to directly impact additive manufacturing industry through improved process efficiency, quality and mechanical properties of products.
