The strengthening of concrete bridges using fibre reinforced polymer (FRP) composites is hampered by the occurrence of premature debonding. To address this issue, anchorage systems have been developed in recent years to mitigate premature debonding failure modes with the objective of achieving higher levels of strengthening and fibre utilizations. This dissertation presents a large scale experimental and numerical study where bidirectional fibre patch anchors are evaluated in prestressed concrete beams strengthened in shear using FRP laminates. The anchors were proven to significantly improve the capacity of the member and increase the FRP debonding strain prior to failure.
