Pseudomonas aeruginosa is a tough bacterium to treat because it's very resistant to antibiotics and forms protective layers called biofilms. One promising alternative to antibiotics is Sarawak stingless bee honey. This honey, like the well-known manuka honey, can kill bacteria and break down biofilms. In this study, 14 types of Sarawak stingless bee honey were tested and found to be effective at low concentrations. They prevented 80% of biofilm formation and broke down existing biofilms by 41%. This study improved knowledge on Sarawak stingless bee honey and its use as a natural treatment against P. aeruginosa.
