Brand nostalgia: the emotional responses of Thai students studying in Australia to Thai condiment packaging

This research examines the nostalgic values associated with Thai condiment packaging within the Thai expatriate student community in Australia, and the method of transferring sociological research into a graphic novel. The findings were used to construct a narrative that explores Thai expatriates’ relationships to and experiences of Thai condiments. This research demonstrates alternative ways of using communication design and illustration as a research analysis method. A significant original contribution to knowledge of this research is a framework that synthesises emotions, contexts and products in a visual representation, making the interview data analysis more accessible.
