Buen Vivir (Good Life) is a Latin American worldview that values the wellbeing of the environment as equally as human wellbeing. This research was looking at whether Buen Vivir could become a practical alternative to the current human-centred model of sustainable development. It looked at the Cotacachi county in Ecuador as a case study because of its geographical, social and environmental situation and the people's pursuit of Buen Vivir. The study examined its principles and what it looks like in practice, and found that it could be a viable tool for community-led social and environmental wellbeing, in any context.
