Concentric punching shear strength of reinforced concrete and post-tensioned floors

A mechanical explanation for the punching shear phenomenon at column-slab connection is developed on the basis of experimental observations and nonlinear Finite Element analysis. The load transfer mechanism from slab to column is used to formulate a punching shear failure criterion for reinforced concrete flat plates and post-tensioned floors under concentric loading.
