The concept of parent-adolescent relationships demonstrating resilience as they navigate relationship conflict is an unexplored area. This doctoral research aimed to contribute toward filling this gap, to better support family clinicians, parents and adolescents to employ evidence-based adaptive conflict navigation strategies that are shown to reflect relationship resilience. The findings of this research emphasise that although parent-adolescent conflicts can be challenging, they can also be navigated in an adaptive manner. It is hoped that findings support family clinicians, parents and adolescents to resolve conflicts in a more adaptive manner and cultivate more resilient parent-adolescent relationships.
