The thesis explores the rapidly changing Universe across the electromagnetic spectrum. While most current surveys search for transient sources that evolve in weeks or months, this thesis work focuses on those transients that become bright and fade away in only a few hours, minutes, or even fractions of seconds. Those include mysterious fast radio bursts and counterparts to gravitational-wave events. We coordinate more than 40 telescopes and multi-messenger detectors that search for rare transient events simultaneously. Research presented in this thesis pushes the boundaries of time-domain astronomy and stresses the importance of collaboration in science.
