In response to the climate and energy crisis, increased global attention has been directed towards electric vehicles. Therefore, the use of electric buses is imminent. In this thesis, the energy and powertrain systems of an electric bus were designed. And two simulation models of electric bus comprising a common single-motor and a proposed dual-motor were built by the use of the Matlab/Simulink software. Additionally, an electric bus prototype with dual-motor was built and tested on two selected real routes in Hong Kong. In summary, this research has important implications for other types of commercial electric vehicles in cities worldwide.
