This research aims to develop lightweight structural components with high energy absorption capacity. Metallic sandwich panels are promising candidates for this application as they possess these properties and thereby have the potential to be used as protective engineering structures. The sandwich panels with different types of cores were evaluated and compared in this work. Comparison of the energy-absorbing abilities of these panels greatly provides insights of the design of such sandwich panel and facilitates their engineering applications.
