The electroencephalogram is a record of the electrical activity of the brain. It is often contaminated by artefacts mainly caused by blinking and moving the eyes. Methods have been suggested to correct the contamination, but to date a consensus on an optimal method has not emerged. Further evaluation and innovation of methods may be necessary. This thesis focuses on the evaluation aspect. Two issues, frequency dependence and temporal stability of the propagation coefficients of the artefacts were studied. An improved eye movement validation method called the 'Peak Difference' validation method was also suggested and used to validate four correction methods.
