Dr Vinu studied the impact of international portfolio diversification and good governance on Australia’s superannuation funds. She finds that despite substantial globalisation and integration of world markets, international equity markets have the potential to offer substantial risk-return benefits to Australian superannuation funds. She also finds that portfolio diversification in equity markets that practice good governance are more likely to enhance those risk-return benefits. This knowledge presents the opportunity for superannuation funds, including managers and members, to reassess and, where needed, revise their international asset allocation strategy.
