Examining Tourism's Contributions to the Regenerative Development of Urban Social-ecological Systems

thesis
posted on 2024-07-29, 11:08 authored by Loretta Tania Bellato
This thesis investigates how tourism can contribute to the regenerative development of urban social-ecological systems. The transformational basis of 'regenerative tourism' is conceptualised and provides empirical evidence on how it contributes to transforming cities and communities. It addresses how tourism can contribute to the health and wellbeing of places, communities, and visitors. By weaving Indigenous and Western knowledge systems and perspectives, urban place is presented as an active partner in inquiry and challenges the dominant notion that nature is separate and to be found in non-built environments.
