This research study examined what constituted excellent leadership in India from the perspectives of multi-generational managers. A quantitative research design was adopted to collect inputs from 594 managers from five Indian cities through an online survey. The relationships between the cultural dimensions which influence managerial leadership and the different generations of managers were analysed. The study identified a cultural model showing what constituted excellent leadership and highlighted specific managerial behaviours important in terms of leadership excellence within the dharma-driven Indian business organisations. Significant contributions to Implicit Leadership Theory (ILT), Excellence in Leadership Framework (EIL), managerial leadership, and generational leadership literature were made through this study.
