In this project, a novel geothermal pavement system was developed with construction and demolition (C&D) wastes for extraction of renewable energy from pavements. The responses of C&D materials under combined cyclic loads and temperature were evaluated using temperature-controlled testing and machine learning predictive modeling. The thermal conductivity of C&D waste was characterized using prototype divided-bar equipment. The thermal performance of the geothermal pavements was investigated by small-scale prototype testing and numerical simulations. The deformation responses of the geothermal pavements under long-term cyclic loads were assessed using large-scale tank testing.
