For many autistic adults, accessing or receiving any type of healthcare treatment can be challenging. The aim of this mixed-method study was to investigate and explore the factors that influence autistic adults' access to healthcare in Melbourne, Australia. Access to healthcare is a human right, and autistic adults with the appropriate pathways and support can access preventative healthcare, have lower presentation and readmission rates in hospital, and live long and healthy lives. Many groups, including autistic adults, primary caregivers, and healthcare clinicians, will benefit from the findings.
