This research identified four treatment goals for the treatment of complex trauma in children, aged six to twelve, in Singapore. Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) was identified as a promising treatment model in addressing these four goals. Two studies, a retrospective case study and a clinical trial, were undertaken to create a developmentally appropriate modified EMDR protocol relevant to the complex trauma treatment landscape in Singapore. Results from the clinical trial suggest that this modified protocol is efficacious and efficient in treating complex trauma, and bolsters resiliency in children who face further traumatic exposure.
