This thesis highlights the current varied manifestations of the global fashion industry. Through a specific case of China, it reveals how a unique fashion system could be built outside the established fashion world dominated by Europe and North America. It enriches the theoretical scope of fashion and contributes to a better understanding of diversity happening now in both fashion practice and fashion research.
