The concept of urbanisation is vexed, focusing on infrastructure, buildings and monetary systems. In an effort to provide all these things for people, communities most affected by change are often left out of the process. The Hebraic concept of shalom provides a new anthropocentric lens through which to view development. Termed flourishing in this work, shalom has been put into dialogue with sustainability and operationalised through the creation of the Flourishing Framework®.
