Alcohol hangover is a common after-effect of heavy episodic drinking characterized by a combination of physical and mental symptoms that develop when blood alcohol concentration is nearing 0.00%. The objective of this thesis was to explore the effects of alcohol hangover on functional aspects of performance. This thesis demonstrated that core cognitive functions were impaired during alcohol hangover, and these impairments may be distinct from acute intoxication. Impairments in attention and psychomotor processes allude to an impairment in driving ability having implications for safe driving practices. Further research is needed to rectify the personal and economic burden of this phenomenon.
