All-optical signal processing is a promising technology that is thought to have the potential to overcome the inherent speed and bandwidth limitations of electronic signal processing. On-chip signal generation, which is a crucial part of all-optical signal processing, necessitates the use of integrated nonlinear optical components. However, existing integrated optical platforms all have limitations in their nonlinear optical performance. The aim of this thesis is to improve the linear and nonlinear optical performance of the CMOS compatible existing integrated optical platforms by incorporating them with two-dimensional layered graphene oxide films.
