This research has been conducted to gain a better understanding of the systemic and structural barriers for the attraction, retention and career progression of women in the construction industry in Sri Lanka and to determine the importance of including women in the workforce. This research contributes to the dearth of literature on gender-based challenges and workplace inequality faced by women in the context of the construction industry, in Sri Lanka.
