The research investigated how dynamic risk factors manifest in custody and change over time. These are important issues because they contribute to decision-making throughout sexual and non-sexually violent offenders' incarceration. Study 1 surveyed psychologists to identify behaviours that sexual offenders engage in during their incarceration, subsequently informing the development of a behavioural checklist. Study 2 validated the Satisfactory Behaviour Rating Guide, which evaluates non-sexually violent offenders' behaviour prior to gaining parole. Study 3 included four methods of measuring sexual offenders’ change during a treatment program. These studies provided an in-depth understanding, and revealed the complexities, of behavioural monitoring and change measurement in custody.
