Poor software usability is one of the major reasons why some software is less popular in the market than other. Early identification and reporting of usability issues is important so that they can be fixed earlier before being release to the customers. However, some users with limited technical knowledge found it is a challenge to report useful information for reporting usability issues. This research surveyed industrial software development practitioners and analysed real defect reports to investigate an ideal content for reporting usability issues and subsequently improved the existing defect reporting.
