This thesis analyses the major obstacles which hinder the achievement of effective intersectoral education in Australia, together with appropriate strategies to overcome these obstacles. The thesis is significant because the relationship between vocational and university education is a key focus of strategic policy aimed at ensuring that Australia remains internationally competitive in terms of relevant skills and knowledge. The methodology of grounded theory is employed using a case study example of a major dual-sector institution in Australia. The findings emphasise the practical and theoretical importance of a range of psychological, social, and cultural barriers that are endemic in intergroup bias and conflict and suggests appropriate strategies for overcoming these.
