This PhD research proposes a novel method for transmitting electrical power over internet. The goal is to maximise the utilisation of renewable energy in a system composed of several intercontinentally dispersed green data centres that are connected through an internet network. The main contributions of this research are developing a modular simulation model for the power load of a typical data centre that reflects the impacts of all affecting parameters, a microgrid configuration model for a data centre power load by analysing the trade-off between all costs and greenhouse gas emissions as well as hourly intercontinental load balancing mechanism.
